Fes to Volubilis and Meknes
The day begins with a pickup from your Fes accommodation at 9 a.m., followed by a trip to the ancient imperial city of Meknes, often called the "Versailles of Morocco." Explore historical landmarks like the impressive ramparts, monumental gates, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail.
At its peak, Meknes boasted over 50 palaces, 20 gates, and a 45km-long city wall. Enjoy a stunning view of the Medina in this holy city. The tour starts with a visit to the walls and their monumental gates from the 17th century, including Berdaïne Bab and Bab Khemis.
Next, explore the stables (Rua), attics (Heri), and Stud. Visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, the only mosque in Morocco historically open to non-Muslims. Exit through the iconic Bab Mansour El and take in the vast Hedim Square.
Across the square, the Museum of Moroccan Art, "Dar Jamai," showcases a variety of handicrafts. Afterward, visit the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, where you can explore 2,000-year-old remains and glimpse life during the Roman Empire.
Continue to Moulay Idriss, and on your return to Fes, request a stop at Borj North or South for a panoramic view of the Medina. The day concludes back at your hotel, marking the end of this private day trip from Fes to Meknes and Volubilis.
