Day 1 : Marrakech - Atlas Mountains - Ait ben haddou Kasbah - Ouarzazate
Our first day of the 5-day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes will begin after breakfast at the riad or hotel where you stayed the night. We’ll depart via Tizi-Ntichka in the Atlas Mountains, enjoying its panoramic views and stunning landscapes. After visiting Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, we’ll have lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to Ouarzazate. There, you can decide whether to visit the city’s studios. We’ll spend our first night at a hotel or riad.
Day 2 : Ouarzazate - kasbah of Amridil - valley of roses & Dades - desert of Merzouga
On our second day, we will begin in the morning after breakfast and continue through the Atlas Mountains to Skoura. There, we will visit Kasbah Amridil, one of Morocco's finest kasbahs from the 17th century, which even appears on the 50 Dirham note and is a historic living museum showcasing traditional life in a fortified village.
Situated a few hundred meters from the main road, this living museum showcases traditional kasbah life over the centuries with features like hand-carved door locks, an olive oil press, and functioning baking ovens. The kasbah is divided into two sections, each with its own entrance one retaining an authentic feel with a higher balcony. Afterward, we will journey through the Valley of the Roses to the Dades Valley and the Todra Gorges, where we will admire stunning landscapes of palm trees and lush valleys. Finally, we will head to the Merzouga Desert, where we will spend the night in a hotel or riad.
Day 3 : Merzouga - Erg Chebbi Tour
The 5-day tour from Marrakech begins with a delicious Moroccan breakfast. Hop into a 4×4 to explore the stunning dunes of Erg Chebbi, a sandy desert filled with breathtaking views. Experience the nomadic desert lifestyle, discover hidden oases, admire incredible landscapes, and visit charming villages surrounded by palm trees. A highlight is Khamlia, where Malian locals entertain with mesmerizing Gnawa music and serve delightful tea.
Later, return to the hotel as camels are prepared for a one-and-a-half-hour trek through the dunes, leading to the heart of the desert for a stunning sunset. The evening offers live music, drumming, a flavorful dinner, and Moroccan tea, ending with a magical night at a luxurious desert camp.
Day 4 : Merzouga Desert camp - Errachidia - Midalt - Azrou - Ifran - Fes
In the morning, after sunrise and breakfast, we’ll leave the desert camp and head through Erfoud to Errachidia, where we’ll enjoy a stunning panoramic view. We’ll explore the forest of the Ziz Valley, take some photos, and continue to Midelt, a town famous for its apples. After lunch, we’ll pass through villages and small towns on our way to the Azrou forest, home to wild monkeys. After spending some time observing the monkeys, we’ll proceed to Ifrane, the second cleanest city in Morocco, often referred to as the "Switzerland of Morocco." We’ll visit the stone lion there before continuing to Fes. This marks the last day of our 5-day desert tour from Marrakech to Fes.
Day 5 : Fez - Visit Fez with our local guide
After relaxing from the journey and enjoying breakfast at the riad in the medina of Fez, it’s time to dive into exploring this captivating city, a highlight of this week-long Moroccan adventure. Accompanied by our English-speaking official guide, you’ll meet at the hotel or an agreed location to begin your tour.
The morning guided tour will take you through the city’s main landmarks and the most iconic spots in the medina, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Highlights may include the Karaouine Mosque and its university (one of the oldest in the world), the Bou Inania and Attarin madrasas, popular areas like Nejjarine, the bustling souks, and traditional artisan neighborhoods such as the tanners' quarter.
As Fez is one of the largest cities in North Africa, some attractions might not be covered in the morning. A free afternoon provides the perfect opportunity to continue exploring. You could visit the Mellah (Jewish quarter), the Royal Palace with its stunning golden gates, or museums like Borj Nord. Alternatively, you might enjoy shopping downtown, where the city’s renowned craftsmanship shines.
With so many options, this will be a fulfilling day, ending with a well-deserved rest at the riad in the medina. This marks the conclusion of our 5-day desert tour from Marrakech to Fez.
